The Southern California Nevada Cycling Association (SCNCA) is the USA Cycling (USAC) recognized local association for the Southern California and Southern Nevada. Our mission is to conduct, coordinate, and seek the advancement of USA Cycling activities in Southern California and Southern Nevada. We are also committed to creating programs to assist riders in the development of their competitive skills and to ensure safe competition. The SCNCA is defined by Zip Code boundaries 89000-89299 in Nevada and all areas south of Monterey, King, Tulare, and Inyo counties in California.
The SCNCA web site is the official home for the USCF calendar, race flyers, race results, and SoCal Cup standings for SoCal and SoNV.
SCNCA 2009 Schedule Announced
There is still some "tweaking that has to be done to manage a few
obvious conflicts. There will also be a few races to be added as the promoter's
finalize the details. As with every season, there are some new events that have
been added and there are a few events that will not be running in 2009. There
also some events that have changed dates. You can see the 2009 calendar
here.

There are still
a few TBDs (Collegiate Track, CX, and the Junior-Elite-U23 Road). As you may
have heard, the Jr, Elite, U23 road championships will not be returning to
Orange County in 2009.

3rd Annual SCNCA Junior Camp Announced
The mission of the SCNCA Junior Development Road Camp is to introduce the Junior Athlete to the fundamentals of effective cycling and basic training guidelines. This year there will be an advanced course for the more experienced riders. The Junior Camp will offer professional coaching and instruction that will assist the Junior Athlete in improving their cycling performance, skills and knowledge about the parts of a training program they should concentrate their efforts on. The cost of the camp is $35 (which will be refunded upon the completion of both days of the camp). SCNCA Annual Meeting and SoCal Cup Awards
Team Up with Spooky Cross Race
10/9/08 - On October 25th, 2008, bring your family and friends to the
SCNCA Picnic as you will be treated to a fun day of festivities for the whole
family. The day will start off with the Annual SCNCA Board Meeting at 10:00am
including the 2009 road race scheduling meeting immediately followed up by a
presentation of the SoCal Cup Category Awards and picnic at 1:00pm where the
Halloween themed party begins. Everything will take place at Hidden Valley, 8800
Irvine Center Drive, Irvine, CA. We will be awarding SoCal Cup jerseys for both
2007 and 2008 road and track winners. We would like to make sure we try to get
the top three riders from each SoCal Cup category. Category winners will receive
a personal invitation. Growing in popularity, the sport of cyclocross has taken
hold in So Cal. Join in on the racing festivities… as this special day continues
with Spooky Cross Night Race Presented by Bike Religion and Team CICLE. It will
be the first ever night race held in So Cal. A FREE Beginner CX Clinic starts at
2:00pm with demo bikes available in all sizes. The SCNCA supports Junior CX with
a fleet of smaller bikes.
Make sure you leave some fuel in the tank for the next day because there is another great CX race taking place at Entradero Park in Torrance starting at 9:00 AM. This is the second of the Urban CX series. It will feature a full day of racing. The fleet of SCNCA CX demo bikes will also be available.
Nominations being accepted for four SCNCA
trustee positions
We are now accepting nominations for canidates for three trustee positions.
These are two year terms that will begin on January 1, 2009 and run through
December 31, 2010. The elections will be held on December 1st, 2008. Please
forward any nominations to
redbike@earthlink.net. Nominations will close on November 15th and ballots
will go out to all current USAC clubs on November 16th.
